The joyful fun of Halloween happens to coincide with the late harvest season of Napa Valley. The end of October is the perfect time to visit and enjoy the fine weather, drink the wine, take an invigorating hot air balloon ride, and rejoice with the locals as they anticipate the end of the growing year.
There is a full slate of spook-filled events for the family and for the late-night crowd to enjoy. The following are just a few of the many choices:
Hometown Halloween, Napa, October 26, 11 AM to 1 PM
Sponsored by the Downtown Napa Association, Halloween Hometown invites costumed princesses, ghouls, superheroes, and goblins to Trick or Treat at 40 downtown Napa businesses. Disney characters will also be present, so kids (of all ages) can have their photos taken with them.
Halloween Masquerade, Charter Oak, St. Helena, October 26, 8 PM to Midnight
The Charter Oak transforms into a magical place for adult-masqueraders only. The event will include a DJ, unlimited drinks and late-night bites. Wear your favorite disguise and enjoy a stunning evening. The proceeds will benefit Nimbus Arts, so kick your Halloween creativity up a notch by signing up for an art class.
Haunted Dinner Party, Village Food and Wine Center, October 27, 6 PM to 8 PM
Chef Mackenzie Rupp will demonstrate the preparation of a three-course Halloween-themed dinner served with expertly chosen wines for each course. Attendees will be given recipe cards to recreate the dishes at home.
Community Trick or Treat, CIA at Copia, Napa, October 29, 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Bring your little goblins, ghosts, and the rest of the family to the Culinary Institute of Arts Trick or Treat. Each family will be given a “passport” to travel through the Treat Trail of Copia businesses. Each fully stamped passport will be entered to win a special prize. Following the Trick or Treat, you are invited to stay for an under-the-stars showing of “Hocus Pocus” in the Copia Gardens.
